Leeward Islands on the Polynesia 2003
This is me diving in the Virgin Islands taken by Jim Armillotti from New York.
 He was an
experienced diver who I had the good fortune to buddy up with.
He ususally gets his kicks diving the river above Niagra Falls for treasure!
I certified originally in 1973 (NASDS), and again in 1983 (PADI) with my wife.
I only get to dive a few times each year though. Until 1991 I was happy with the North
Coast of California. My wife tempted me with the water of Hawaii. I found it
CLEAR, WARM, AND CALM. It was then that I began to have trouble facing the 1/4" wetsuit
and 28 lb. weightbelt. This costume had been a required part of the ritual for many years.
It was necessary prior to the ½ mile or more HIKE to get to the CLIFF.
There we would climb down to the snot-covered rocks.
Finally we could work our way through the surfline into 6-10' swells of 50 degree water.
We were occasionally rewarded with 15'visability. Usually less. I still go
once in a while, because the ABALONE and interesting bottom life, are worth it.
